NJ Security Officer Regulations

Under the Security Officer Registration Act
it is now law in New Jersey that anyone employed as a Security Officer must be certified.

To apply for certification you must first register on-line with New Jersey State Police. You will then receive a temporary SORA identification card valid for 30 days. With your temporary ID you are able to sign up for the required 24 hour training class which prepares you for the certification test.  SORA certification is valid for 2 years and allows you to be employed by a licensed agency.

The New Jersey Security Officer Training Academy

The New Jersey Security Training Academy is a private school certified by the New Jersey State Police. They prepare students to successfully pass the SORA test for Security Officer certification.

Visit the New Jersey Security Training Academy website to enroll in the 24 hour training class. All applicants must submit fingerprints and consent for a criminal background check. To register with the Academy you must have your temporary SORA ID card and at least two forms of identification.
